The LinkedIn App Events – If you are hosting an event why not use the LinkedIn App, Events to promote your event? Combine and coordinate activity on LinkedIn with other social media and your website. Viewers to your profile see which event you are attending. It is very easy to set up an event. LinkedIn will require the following detail as a minimum about your event:
- Event Title
- Date and time
- This is a virtual event
- Venue name:
- Whether you are attending, interesting or not attending
- Whether you are the one organizing
With the information above you have enough information to post your event. If need to provide information this would include: A description of the event not more than 300 characters, event categorisation and event organisation.
Before you publish your event Preview to see it as someone else would. Do your last minute check to ensure that everything is fine.
People who view your LinkedIn profile from within LinkedIn can see the events that you are involved with in some way whether you are Attending, Interested or Not Attending. When you share the event with your network, encourage them to respond in some way even if they are not attending. I believe if you can drum up support for your events, you can encourage even more people to sign up.
Here is an example of an URL. You can send this url to someone outside LinkedIn and when they click on it, they will be taken to the event. Here is an example is an event URL http://events.linkedin.com/LinkedIn-Basics-Talk/pub/842737
Sharing the event
Once the event is created you can share it with your connections. There is nothing to stop you from taking the URL or website address for your event and sharing it via email as well. From LinkedIn you can share the event with up to 50 People at a time. Increase awareness in your network about the events you are organising and attending by using the LinkedIn Events App.
